Also i know i had thermal throttle limit on CPU a few weeks ago as my pc was a pre built and it limited itself to 80c which i don't mind but when i updated my bios it was removed somehow.
Edit: Sorry my bad didn't realise the first post was already posted as i was on my phone at the time and wasn't sure if it posted because it didn't get updated in my tracked notifications section. Sorry will not do again!

In Windows. Control panel > Power options > Advanced, you can set Max CPU to less than 100% but it will also have repercussions on game FPS but without having to dig thru BIOS.
In games, lower details which should also result in less work for CPU.

Doctor? Take a look at this. He's cut pretty bad. Well nurse, guess you should put a band-aid on that. But doctor the band-aid won't stop the bleeding. He need stitches. At least 9 of them. Use the band-aid.
\Why are you asking for this temp. fix? What's the root cause?

Oh because my aftermarket cpu cooler is coming next week so i just only need it for a few days. Im just assuming its just the crappy stock intel cpu cooler. Sorry i thought i put that in the main text post but must of deleted it by accident

I'll definitely try this. Hopefully it should keep this cool for a few days until my cooler arrives thanks. Will pick as solution in a few hours to see if the temps improved. Also im not too worried about performance drops because im not planning to play intensive triple a titles because of the steam sales Thanks again

It isn't mounted correctly or with the right amount of thermal compound imo. While the Intel cooler is crappy it's not that bad.
Mike's already shown you how to cap your CPU speed. This fix of changing the thermal limit shouldn't be applied with temperature like yours. A weird "fix" that might help or hinder. Will the thermal change throttle your CPU until it reaches a safe operating temp. or will it simply shut down when you reach that temperature? You would go into your BIOS to adjust the thermal limit. Spamming delete at power on is your key to the board's BIOS. You can check in your board's manual or post its specs. in here.

Im sure mounting isnt the cause as the cpu cooler was put on 2 years ago. I think it needs new thermal paste, but im just gonna use a new cooler since i kind need a better cooler anyways. I think i already went into bios to set an alert when it reaches 90 so i should be fine

Yeah this helped out a fair bit. Now in CSGO my max temp was like 78c in an hour session. This is only a temp fix until i get my new cpu cooler Thank you soo much!
